The bones discovered in the hidden chambers of the cave in South Africa called the Rising Star may change the story of the human evolution. There may be another ancestor Home erectus and they are calling it Homo naledi. The fossils were of a 4-ft 10-inch adult male weighing 100-110 pounds. However, studies are still being conducted to determine just how old the fossils are.

The remains were found 30 meters underground in the cave, also called as the Cradle of Humanity, and is treated as a world heritage site. They were first discovered by recreational cavers Steven Tucker and Rick Hunter, with the guidance of Lee Berger, the paleoanthropologist who has always believed that researchers should focus more in South Africa.

This is what the newly discovered human ancestor, H. naledi, may have looked like.

Meet Homo naledi.
